The old west still lives in Cochise County, Arizona.  History comes to life as you walk in the footsteps of the Spanish Conquistadors, Apache Indians Cochise and Geronimo, Wild West gunfighters Wyatt Earp and Doc Holiday and countless other historical figures.

  Kartchner Caverns - Discovered in 1978 by Gary Tenen and Randy Tufts, this extensive underground cavern complex provides a fascinating day trip and is located just 12 miles from Cochise Terrace.

Bisbee - Famous for its high grade copper ore mines, Bisbee is rich in western lore and interesting shops.  Located 51 miles from the resort, this town is worth a visit, antiques ,etc.

Tombstone - "The Town too Tough to Die," Tombstone was perhaps the most renowned of Arizona's old mining camps.  Truly a Historical American Landmark, Tombstone is America's best example of our 1880 western heritage. Only 35 miles from Cochise Terrace.

Saguaro National Park - Saguaro cacti provided their sweet fruits to hungry desert animals.  They also provide homes to a variety of birds, such as the Harris' hawk, Gila woodpecker and the tiny elf owl.  Visit this fascinating area during your stay with us.

Historic Fort Bowie - Fort Bowie commemorates its 1000 acres, the story of the bitter conflict between the Chiricahua Apaches and the United States military.  An easy day trip and great hiking trail.

  Chiricahua National Park and Cochise Stronghold - Located to the west of Sunsites, Arizona in the Dragoon Mountains at an elevation of 5,000'.  Cochise Stronghold is the rugged natural fortress used a base for 15 years by the famed Chiricahua Apache Chief, Cochise. This awesome walk is located only 40 miles from Cochise Terrace.

Mission San Xavier del Bac - San Xavier del Bac, Arizona, is a beautifully preserved gem of the late Baroque style of New Spain.  Completed in 1787, it stands in the San Xavier District of Tohono O'odham Nation, about twelve miles south of Tucson, Arizona

Coronado National Monument - Named after the Spanish explorer Vasquez de Coronado, this park offers a glimpse of what Coronado must have seen so many years ago.

Historic Fort Huachuca - Originally founded by Captain Whitside of the U.S. 5th Cavalry, was established in the foothills of the Huachuca Mountains and still operates as an active military post. Only 20 miles from Cochise Terrace.
